Adeniums are native to Eastern and Southwestern Africa and the Arabian peninsula. The 'Desert Rose' has a woody, swollen,  bulbous stem called a caudex that helps it retain moisture during dry periods. It has lush blossoms that can grow up to 2 inches across in vibrant reds, pinks and coral  colours that bloom during the wet periods in its native climate.

Desert Rose  enjoys a fair amount of sunlight.   Place it in a bright,  sunny window where it can get direct sunlight for a minimum of six hours per day. Water the plant regularly, about once a week; watering it all the way through.

During the winter months, adeniums go into a dormancy period causing them to lose leaves.  Cut way back on watering during this period and water it only when the soil is completely dry, about once every two or three weeks.

Fertilize your adenium monthly.

Make sure to use soil that drains well such as succulent and cactus soil.

Desert rose contains a toxic sap that can be harmful to both humans and animals. Use gloves while  pruning your plant and keep the plant away from pets. Wash your skin immediately and thoroughly if you do come into contact with the sap.
