December Plant of the Month: Variegated Syngonium Podophyllum 'Alba Variegata'

This month’s Plant of the Month is the stunning variegated syngonium podophyllum ‘Albo Variegata’.  We love just about every syngonium / garobo plant, but this variegated version is THE ONE everyone should have.  The variegation is quite prominent on most leaves and as with most syngoniums, this is a strong, easy to grow houseplant.  

Variegated plants continue to be very popular, and this one is our most recommended based on it’s beauty, quick and easy growth, and adaptability to a wide range of home décor situations.  It makes a great hanging plant for macramé plant hangers or for a shelf.  We have also had great success growing syngoniums on moss poles and recommend trying this out if you prefer your plants to grow upwards.  

These plants can be propagated quickly and easily as well.  Simply cut a section that has an aerial root and place it in water.  After about 2 weeks it should have new roots and be ready to pot into soil.  These plants look especially stunning when several are combined so we recommend propagating several (or of course we’d be happy to sell you a few if you don’t want to wait).

This plant does best in medium to bright indirect light indoors, where it will grow fairly quickly.  While it can tolerate lower light situations we do not recommend it, as the plant will not grow as quickly or beautifully.  As is often the case with variegated plants, some leaves will tend to die from time to time, especially those that are most heavily variegated.  This is not a concern as long as the plant is otherwise in good health and continues to grow new leaves.

La planta del mes de este mes es el impresionante syngonium podophyllum abigarrado "Albo Variegata". Nos encantan casi todas las plantas de syngonium / garobo, pero esta versión variada es LA QUE todos deberían tener. La variedad es bastante prominente en la mayoría de las hojas y, como ocurre con la mayoría de los syngoniums, es una planta de interior fuerte y fácil de cultivar.

Las plantas abigarradas siguen siendo muy populares, y esta es nuestra más recomendada en función de su belleza, crecimiento rápido y fácil, y adaptabilidad a una amplia gama de situaciones de decoración del hogar. Es una gran planta colgante para colgar plantas de macramé o para un estante. También hemos tenido un gran éxito al cultivar syngoniums en postes de musgo y recomendamos probar esto si prefiere que sus plantas crezcan hacia arriba.

Estas plantas también pueden propagarse rápida y fácilmente. Simplemente corte una sección que tenga una raíz aérea y colóquela en agua.
