Plant of the month for July: Philodendron Painted Lady

As you may have already guessed, we are huge philodendron lovers! That is why we are so excited to announce this month's pick for the plant of the month: The philodendron Painted Lady.

This beautiful aroid is highly sought-after for it's highly variegated leaved and red petioles. This plant has bright lemon-green coloured leaves that become mottled with dark green marking as the leaf matures. The leaves can reach between 12cm to 25 cm in length. A mature painted lady can spread out between 25 - 75cm wide and reach heights between 150 - 300 cm.

The Painted Lady is a hybrid cross between the Philodendron Erubescens Burgundy and the Philodendron Erubescens Emerald Queen.

This is an easy plant to care for and does just as well indoors as it does outdoors ( in warmer climates) It will do well in a brightly lit indoor room (Avoid direct sunlight as it may scorch the leaves) to a low lit corner of a patio or yard.

This plant is quite hardy and is more drought resistant than other philodendrons, however we do recommend watering the painted Lady once per week or when the top soil is dry to the touch. If you want your Painted lady to grow large mature leaves, we recommend staking it to a moss pole or some other climbing surface.
