July's Plant of the Month: Hoya Carnosa Variegata Tricolor

This stunning Hoya quickly became a favorite in our collection and we are sure you will love it.  It combines several of the attributes we look for when selecting plants.  

#1 – it’s variegated

We don’t have to tell you variegated plants are still trending.  This  Hoya species has very prominent variegation, often producing leaves that are anywhere from half to completely white.

#2 – it’s got pink coloration

We love pink plants.  This hoya is named ‘tricolor’ because it has green, white AND pink leaf coloration.  The stems tend to have a lot of pink color, and the leaves have a more subtle gentle pink in and around the white leaf sections.

#3 – it’s very easy to grow

This is another plant that likes to be left alone.  In fact, it really does not do well when overwatered.  Use a well draining soil and let it completely dry out before watering.  We water ours only once ever 10-14 days.  If you aren’t sure if it needs water, leave it for a few more days.  Place it in a location that needs bright but indirect sunlight and let it be.

#4 – it’s a great hanging / trailing plant

This is a great hanging plant that is fantastic in macramé, in a hanging basket, or hanging over the side of a table or shelf.  The plants can grow over 6m in length over time.

#5 – it flowers !

Ours hasn’t flowered yet, but we can’t wait to see the showy, scented flowers when they decide to show up.

La planta del mes de julio es la muy deseada Hoya Carnosa Variegata Tricolor.

Esta impresionante Hoya se convirtió rápidamente en una de las favoritas de nuestra colección y estamos seguros de que te encantará. Combina varios de los atributos que buscamos al seleccionar plantas.

# 1 - es varigada

No tenemos que decirle que las plantas abigarradas todavía están en tendencia. Esta especie de Hoya tiene una variedad muy prominente, a menudo produciendo hojas que son desde la mitad hasta completamente blancas.

# 2 - tiene coloración rosa

Amamos las plantas rosadas. Esta hoya se llama "tricolor" porque tiene una coloración de hoja verde, blanca y rosa. Los tallos tienden a tener mucho color rosado, y las hojas tienen un rosa suave más sutil dentro y alrededor de las secciones de las hojas blancas.

# 3 - es muy fácil de cultivar

Esta es otra planta que le gusta que la dejen sola. De hecho, realmente no funciona bien cuando se riega demasiado. Use un suelo bien drenado y deje que se seque por completo antes de regar. Riegamos la nuestra solo una vez cada 10-14 días. Si no está seguro de si necesita agua, déjelo unos días más. Colóquelo en un lugar que necesite luz solar brillante pero indirecta y déjelo estar.

# 4 - es una gran planta para colgar / arrastrar

Esta es una gran planta colgante que es fantástica en macramé, en una canasta colgante o colgando sobre el costado de una mesa o estante. Las plantas pueden crecer más de 6 m de largo con el tiempo.

# 5 - ¡florece!

La nuestra aún no ha florecido, pero no podemos esperar a ver las flores vistosas y perfumadas cuando deciden aparecer.
